Where does an Ohio employer buy workers’ compensation coverage?
The Ohio Revised Code states that for a policy year commencing on or after July 1, 2015, every private employer and every publicly owned utility shall pay annually into the state insurance fund the amount of estimated annual premium the administrator fixes for the employment or occupation of the employer. The Code sends that premium to the state insurance fund rather than to a private carrier.

What are the minimum auto liability limits in Ohio?
The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles states the minimum required for insurance coverage is $25,000 for injury or death of one person, $50,000 for injury or death of two or more people, and $25,000 for property damage in an accident. Ohio is monopolistic for workers’ compensation but not for auto, so this floor is met with a policy from a private carrier.
